露營 part 1

A week ago Khuan Bo and MauDon swung by our home for a short visit.  During conversation, they mentioned that they would be going camping with a large group of northern California statewide Vietnamese scouts at Cutter Scout Reservation close to a two-hour drive away from the city.  Khuan Bo told us that we could go along with them to camp out for one night just to see what a scout camping is like.  Thinking the last time we had our family camping in the woods was 28 years ago, we decided to try out for one-night and opt out the whole three-day scout program.  Wife and I made arrangement to drive our own van following the convoy on Friday afternoon, Aug/31/2012.

While the majority of people slept in the tents, Khuan Bo and family slept in their van, so did we in ours.  Due to uneasy sleeping condition in the van even with backseats removed, I had only a three-hour sleep at night, but felt alright the next day to walk tour different camp groups for four hours before heading back to the city in the afternoon.  Khuan Bo and MauDon stayed with the three-day camping program.

We enjoyed the one-day camping seeing many new generation Vietnamese youngsters in scout uniforms along with their parents.  Thank you Khuan Bo and MauDon.

In my mind, if we have enough BangHang classmates interested in doing a group camping someday, I am sure Khuan Bo would be glad to take charge of the site selection and program planning.  It would be a fun event, would it not?

Those tents are vacant but we prefer sleeping in our van
